Donna Allen 'Serious' (1986) - Strike 'U Sure Do' (1994)

What a powerful hook can do! - Donna Allen, R&B vocalist born in Key West and raised in Tampa, Florida, was backing singer for Gloria Estefan before, in 1986, she released a solo album, which included a track containing a hook that should go global almost a decade later.
Matt Cantor, Andy Gardner and Victoria Newton, a.k.a. Strike, stripped the chorus hook line from it's original and re-packaged it for dancefloors worldwide in 1994. First played 'underhand' the track quickly went viral and saw two releases to the mainstream. Several re-releases (in 1999 and 2006) kept the track current and has achieved something of an anthem status in club world.
